Recently, I have taken interest in contributing to open source projects. Below are some of the reasons I have started contributing.
I want to be an Engineer of International Standards
All my career since 2015, have been working with companies primarily based out of Bangalore, India. My long-term plans are to work and collaborate with people all over the world.
This will help me develop the communication skills required to be a part of the international community.
I would like to improve myself in the field of Software Development
In some of the popular open-source projects, you will get to work with some of the smartest people in the industry. This in turn will help me to upskill and will be able to get some of the best practices and tools to my current workplace.
I want to teach others and I want to learn from others
Working in open source projects is a great way to learn and share knowledge. In my first two days of starting contributing, I have been able to point out some of the things that worked well for me in the past and reviewed some PRs, which helped out others.
I have got some great feedback in the PRs I sent, which helped me to improve my skills and learn from others.
Overall, it's been a good experience so far
I intend to continue this for some time so that I can learn from others and help others.
